Visit Us

The Museum is now CLOSED over the winter season and will reopen in Spring with a selection of new exhibits.

Our address is Epping Signalling Museum, Station Road, Epping, Essex, CM16 4HW.  The entrance to the site is at the far end of Epping station car park. If arriving at Epping station by train or bus, turn left out of the main station building and walk down the ramp and towards the back of the car park.

If driving, coming from Epping town centre along Station Road turn right by the railway bridge with yellow chevrons.

Continue driving down the slope past the station on your left and on through the car park.  You will see our large yellow loco in front of you - our gate is to the right. Please use the phone if the gate is closed then one of the team will come and let you in after a few minutes.

You can get to Epping Signalling Museum in the following ways:

By London Underground Central Line
By far the easiest! Catch a Central Line train to Epping (zone 6) and it’s the last stop on the line. Keep an eye out of the left side (facing travel) train windows shortly before arriving at Epping - you’ll see our bright yellow Locomotive L11. Check your train times on the TfL website

By bus
Several local buses from places such as Waltham Cross, Harlow, North Weald or Ongar serve Epping station. The bus stop is right outside the station.  Plan your bus journey with Traveline.

Elizabeth Line

Now the Elizabeth Line is running, why not make a day of it? Catch an Elizabeth line train to Brentwood, then take a leisurely bus ride through rural Essex, via Ongar, to Epping. Experience a ride on TfL's newest train and then come and see our 93 year old one! A suggested route with timetable can be found here.

Epping Ongar Railway

On most operating days, the Epping Ongar railway (EOr) run heritage buses, between Epping station & North Weald station and between Shenfield station & Epping. Holders of EOr All Day Rover, or specified event tickets, may travel on the bus service for no additional charge, otherwise the service is available to the public for local journeys with fares payable to the conductor.

By car
Use SatNav postcode CM16 4HW. Look out for Station Road and a bridge with yellow chevrons. Turn down into the side road towards the tube station (the signs are not very visible!). Be aware some SatNavs might try to take you to the housing estate at the back of the signal cabin!  Epping station has a large car park monitored by ANPR operated by Saba. The card only payment machine is on the right just past the burger van, or pay by phone.
